E-script's online courses and workshops in screenwriting and television writing are offered in five and ten-week terms, and you choose your own Monday start date. And now you have the option of signing up for our new self-directed screenwriting course!
Or, if you simply want one-time feedback, check out our script consulting service.
E-script's online E-course is a great training ground for beginning screenwriters, and a good place for more experienced screenwriters to polish their skills. Each week, registrants receive an online tutorial from professional screenwriter (and experienced screenwriting teacher) Mark Troy on a specific craft subject as well as a related exercise. You return assignments by e-mail, and receive feedback from the instructor in the same way. Mark will also be glad to respond to general questions and comments at any time.
Your course is highly individualized; Mark works one-on-one with you, and, unlike some other online courses, we don't ask you to provide feedback to other students. At the end of the course you also have the option of "meeting" with Mark in the E-script chatroom, accessible via any web-browser. As the course is conducted largely by e-mail, you may work at your own convenience. Exercises can be done on their own, or applied to a script you want to begin or are already working on. Registrants in E-script E-courses receive a 10% discount on a subsequent E-script workshop. (See What's the difference between a course and a workshop?) Fees: Five week course:$210.00 (U.S.) / Ten week course: $350.00 (U.S.). The fee may be paid in two installments; see enrollment page for details.
Want to do the work on your own time, but still have the input of a professional on the final product? With our new self-directed screenwriting course, you receive all 10 lessons and exercises upon registering. You work through them at your own speed and, while you won't receive ongoing feedback as you would in our standard course (see above), each exercise brings you one step closer to making a start on your script. By the end of the ten lessons, you'll have written the first 25 pages of a screenplay, which you can then send to professional screenwriter (and experienced screenwriting teacher) Mark Troy for his detailed feedback. You also have the option of a follow-up "meeting" with Mark in E-script's online chatroom, accessible via any web-browser. Fee: $150. The fee may be paid in two installments; see enrollment page for details.
The E-script Workshop is for screenwriters who want to work on a new screenplay, or on a draft of a work-in-progress, with ongoing professional guidance. You have a choice of mentors: veteran script consultant Olga Humphrey or professional screenwriter (and experienced screenwriting teacher) Mark Troy. Send script material to your workshop leader by e-mail as often as you like; once weekly, you'll receive feedback intended to help you in revision and to encourage your ongoing work. Your mentor will also be glad to respond to general questions and comments at any time.
Your workshop is highly individualized; your mentor works one-on-one with you, and, unlike some other online workshops, we don't ask you to provide feedback to other registrants. At the end of the course you also have the option of "meeting" with the workshop leader in the E-script chatroom, accessible via any web-browser.
As the workshop is conducted largely by e-mail, you may work at your own convenience. Writers who have been through an E-script E-course receive a 10% discount. (See What's the difference between a course and a workshop?) Fees: Five week workshop: $210.00 (U.S.) / Ten week workshop: $350.00 (U.S.). The fee may be paid in two installments; see enrollment page for details.
To make your way as a writer of hour episodic television (action-adventure, drama, dramedy) you need a great spec script. In this workshop, you work on an episode for an existing series, and receive weekly feedback and guidance from veteran TV and film writer and producer Mike Snyder. Once your script is finished and polished, Mike will advise on how to use it as your calling card to the industry.
Your workshop is highly individualized; Mike works one-on-one with you, and, unlike some other online workshops, we don't ask you to provide feedback to other registrants. At the end of the course you also have the option of "meeting" with Mike in the E-script chatroom, accessible via any web-browser. As the workshop is conducted largely by e-mail, you may work at your own convenience. Writers who have been through an E-script E-course receive a 10% discount. (See What's the difference between a course and a workshop?) Fees: Five week workshop:
$175.00 (U.S.) / Ten week workshop: $295.00 (U.S.). The ten week workshop may be paid for in two installments;
