E-script's online courses and workshops in playwriting are offered in five and ten-week terms, and you choose your own Monday start date. Or if you simply want one-time feedback, try our script consulting service.
E-script's online E-course
is a great training ground for beginning playwrights, and a good place
for more experienced playwrights to polish their skills. Each week, registrants
receive an online tutorial from internationally-produced playwright Bill Ballantyne on a specific craft
subject -- see the course outline below -- and a related exercise. You return assignments by e-mail, and receive feedback in the same way. Bill will also be glad to respond to general questions and comments at any time.
Your course is highly individualized; Bill works one-on-one with you, and, unlike some other
online courses, we don't ask you to provide feedback to other students. At the end of the course, you also have
the option of "meeting" with Bill in our online chatroom, accessible via any web-browser. As the course is conducted largely by e-mail, you may work at your own convenience. Exercises can be done on their own, or applied to a script you want to begin or are already working on. Registrants in E-script E-courses receive a 10% discount on a subsequent E-script workshop. (See What's the difference between a course and a workshop?) Fees: Five week course:
$175.00 (U.S.) / Ten week course: $295.00 (U.S.). The ten week course may be paid for in two installments;
see enrollment page for details.
Playwriting Workshop The E-script Workshop is for playwrights
who want to work on a new play, or on a draft of a work-in-progress, under the guidance of any of three veteran dramaturgs and internationally-produced playwrights: Bill Ballantyne, Ruth Margraff, or Mark S.P. Turvin. Submit script material to your mentor by e-mail as often as you like; once weekly, you'll receive individual feedback intended to help you in revision and to encourage your ongoing work. Your mentor will also be glad to respond to general questions and comments at any time.

E-script's Script Consulting Service Can't spare the time for a course or workshop, but still want professional feedback on, and help with, your script? Then try our year-round script consulting service. Faculty member Bill Ballantyne or Mark Turvin (both veteran dramaturgs and internationally-produced playwrights) will read your play, provide a detailed set of notes, and follow-up via phone, skype, or E-script's easy to use chat room. The one-time fee is $175.00 (U.S.), payable by check, money order, Mastercard or VISA. If you're interested in our script consulting service, e-mail us. Tell us a bit about your play, which consultant you'd like to work with, and when you'd like to get started.
