Egyptian screenwriters just wanna have fun

From Egypt Today: If this overview is correct, young Egyptian screenwriters are under fire for being . . . too funny. Warning: a certain lack of quotation marks makes the whole thing a bit indecipherable, but this nugget of candor stands out regardless: "The amount of interference depends on the creative power of the writing." In other words, if your script's good, it'll be left alone. Maybe they're just nicer to screenwriters in Egypt, but there have been enough examples of scripts shot more or less as written lately (Capote, World Trade Center) to think it might be true.
