The Play
About life and dogs
By Melissa Fryer
Brian March was a cat person.
Then a special dog, a lab-rotweiler mix, was nearly struck by a car near March's home, after its owner allowed it to run freely through the neighbourhood.
"We came to an agreement that if she didn't want to care for him, we would," March said. "Suddenly, we were dog owners and it's a completely different world."
His dog, Moocher, became the inspiration for his play, Fireweed, presented by Western Edge Theatre
.He soon learned the joys of dog ownership. March now owns two dogs.
"One thing I discovered was they're incredibly intelligent," March said. "They'll actually listen to you when you talk to them."
